Our Summer Members’ Meeting focused on Sustainability, one of the Association’s hot topics that is becoming increasingly important for brickwork contractors.
With clients, developers and main contractors placing greater emphasis on carbon reduction, responsible sourcing, waste reduction and environmental performance, sustainability is no longer simply a compliance issue. It is becoming a key commercial advantage for contractors looking to remain competitive and win future work.
Members heard from Vandersanden, who explored how innovation in brick manufacturing, material selection and product development is helping reduce embodied carbon while supporting the transition towards more sustainable construction.
CCF provided valuable insight into how merchants and supply chain partners can help contractors improve project efficiency through better logistics, product availability and material choices, reducing waste and improving overall environmental performance on site.
Plasmor shared how innovation in masonry products and manufacturing processes is contributing to lower carbon construction while maintaining the quality and performance expected by the industry.
Throughout the afternoon, presentations highlighted that sustainability extends far beyond products. Efficient site management, reducing waste, improving logistics, embracing innovation and working collaboratively across the supply chain all have an important role to play in helping brickwork contractors meet changing client expectations and future regulatory requirements.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for members to exchange ideas, discuss practical challenges and explore how the industry can work together to deliver meaningful environmental improvements while maintaining commercial success.
Following the meeting, members came together at The Hoxton Southwark for another well-attended networking evening.
Despite London’s exceptionally warm weather, there was a fantastic turnout, with contractors, manufacturers and suppliers continuing the day’s discussions in a relaxed setting. Conversations centred around sustainability initiatives, emerging technologies, future collaboration and opportunities to strengthen relationships across the supply chain.
The evening once again demonstrated the unique value of the Association, bringing together businesses from across the brickwork industry to share knowledge, build partnerships and support one another, helping to create a stronger, more connected industry.
