Training Provider Name : Chesterfield College

What does Bricklaying mean to you and why did you choose to become a Bricklayer?
“Bricklaying to me is being able to build great new projects and building people’s dreams. I chose to become a bricklayer because it’s a skilled trade that requires attention to detail. I also find it very rewarding when you complete a new project and see the final outcome, I also enjoy the physical side of the job, and being active all day.”
Thomas started with Phoenix last year and has been a valued member of the team and a delight to have on their sites. Heres what Phoenix had to say:
“When an apprentice starts with us we liaise with the College regarding our training requirements and agree on a programme with them. This includes attendance at college and working hands-on at our sites. While the hands-on practical work is a huge part of his development, we highlight with all our apprentices that the theory learning part is just as important. We regularly keep in contact Thomas’s tutor/mentor at college to discuss progression and how he is doing.
Our site managers have nothing but great words to say about Thomas and the work he does on our sites. He is always very keen and eager to learn. He has grown in confidence when working on his own and also works in harmony with every gang showing he is a team player.
From when Thomas first started with Phoenix we have seen his skills on and off site grow and are proud to have him as part of Team Phoenix.”
This award is proudly sponsored by Leviat, whom will present the award on the night to the lucky winner.
